Dustin Ryan Yu (he/him) is a ceramicist, and identifies as a queer Hongkongese second generation immigrant settler, living and working on the ancentral, unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm, Skwxwú7mesh, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh Nations, known colonially as "Vancouver".

For the past 8 years, Dustin's focus is primarily on coffee- and tea-related drinkware and servewave, and all of his pieces have been handmade as a one-person operation since the very beginning. Combined with his work experience in the coffee industry, he is inspired by the sensory experience of coffee and tea, and aims to craft wares that find the balance between design, ergonomics, and experience.

After taking a class in 2015, Dustin has since been part of multiple ceramics spaces. He currently co-runs Rice Ceramics Studio (@riceceramicsstudio), and supplies custom and meticulously crafted pieces to coffee shops, coffee roasteries, and various retail businesses across Canada.

Aside from ceramics, Dustin also works as a coffee professional. In 2017, he began his coffee career at Modus, a specialty coffee roastery in Vancouver, and has since worked in coffee sensory analysis and green coffee purchasing. Dustin currently also works with The Roasters Pack (@theroasterspack), Leaderboard: The Coffee Game (@leaderboardcoffee), as well as This Coffee Co (@thiscoffeeco).
